The invention discloses an ultraviolet colorimetric method for simply rapidly detecting L-cysteine. The method is based on a reaction that L-cysteine and 1-chloro-2, 4-dinitrobenzene are reacted in boiling water bath to rapidly generate a yellow complex, and also hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide is capable of accelerating the reaction efficiency. 20 mu M of L-cysteine in the reaction can be detected by naked eyes. The detection limit by employing an ultraviolet detector is 0.5 mu M. The method has the advantages of being simple and convenient in operation, short in consume time, rapid, specific, visual by naked eyes, sensitive, economic and the like.
