The invention relates to metal nanometer materials, in particular to a metal nanometer material with a carbon-based material as a template and a synthesis method thereof. The metal nanometer material is formed by depositing, by weight, 80-90% of metal elements on the surface of the carbon-based material. According to the method, the carbon-based material is used for synthesis of the metal nanometer material as the template. The method has the characteristics that the reaction condition is moderate and the process is simple. The metal nanometer material synthesized according to the method can be used as an electrode modification material to be used for detecting biogenic elements and heavy metal in environmental water by being combined with the electrochemical measuring technology.
