The invention specifically relates to a marine microalgae strain which is separated from sea and purified, and application thereof, belonging to the fields of microalgae biotechnology and energy. The marine microalgae strain is preserved under a name of Chattonella marina HDY1 in CGMCC on March 22nd, 2017, with an accession number of CGMCC No. 13867. The single cell of Chattonella marina has a tawny color and no cell wall, can move and is easy to culture and capable of growing in a general F/2 algae medium. According to results of detection via photosynthetic microbiological fuel cell technology, the marine microalgae strain has obvious electrogenesis activity and has good application prospects in the technical field of algal bio-resources.
